Director Mira Shuaib said: I am joyful with the good reactions after the film was shown at the Cairo Film Festival. The film (Cedar) was also received wonderfully when it was shown in several different countries, including: France, Australia and America. The film won in San Francisco two days ago the Best Deputation First Feature Film award in One of the oldest and most significant Arab Film Festivals in America is the Arab Film Festival, and now we share our joy with the reactions after it was shown in Arab countries.

Speaking to FilFan.com, Mira Shuaib stressed that the “humanity” of the story is the reason viewers from different cultures are attracted, pointing out that his nomination for the Oscar aroused contradictory feelings in them between joy and pride over achievement and sadness over the conditions of war and the complex situations in Lebanon, stressing that their goal was Presenting Beirut and its people in the image that you love and grew up with, while delivering a message of hope at the end of the film.

She added: “With your first viewing of the movie “Arza,” you discover that it tells a lot in Lebanese about the Lebanese people and the multiplicity of sects and differences between us, but the family relationship between the mother, son, and her sister is the common corner between every home. The audience thanked us for being the reason for their knowing the country, Lebanon, more after watching it. The movie.”

Regarding her connection with the Egyptian people, Mira Shuaib says that she was raised and influenced by Egyptian cinema since her childhood, and this is her first visit to Cairo and her second to Egypt after participating in the short film “Laila” previously at the Aswan Women’s Festival, explaining that the most inspiring realistic cinema director for her is Youssef Chahine.

She added: “I love the star Faten Hamama very much, and I intended to use a scene from the movie “A Bitter Day, a Sweet Day,” starring Faten Hamama, as part of the events of the movie “Arza,” as a tribute to the Egyptian movie that I loved and grew up on and used to watch it repeatedly with my mother. I also prefer watching Ramadan series. Egyptian every year.

She goes on to hope that she will have the opportunity to meet with the artist Mona Zaki in one artistic work, describing: “Mona Zaki is one of the top 10 international stars, not just Arab ones. She is the third artist that I hope to work with, along with the two international stars Kate Winslet and Cate Blanchett.”

As for the cooperation with the Lebanese star Diamond Bou Abboud, she describes it as “a dream come true,” saying: “One day I showed her the script for the movie Cedar, she read and cried, affected by the character and the events, and at that time she was very happy and was certain at the time that she would agree to star in it. She deliberately presented it to the public in a very different way than what she presented.” From previous artistic roles, and the same is the case with the rest of the film’s characters and their heroes, “Betty Total/Laila” and “Kenan/Bilal Al-Hamawi.”

The events of the Lebanese-Egyptian film revolve around “Arza,” a single mother residing in Beirut. Stressed by life’s circumstances, she is forced to work hard on her own to secure a living for her son, “Kenan,” and her sister, “Laila.” She buys a motorcycle for her son to help her deliver pies to homes, but their lives turn upside down. After it was stolen.

It is worth noting that the activities of the 45th Cairo Film Festival will continue until November 22, with the participation of 190 films from 72 countries in addition to two television episodes.
