Exclusive – Jad Khater talks about “Yamen” in “The Agent” and this is what he said about Yara Sabry, Samer Ismail and Mia Saeed

Lebanese actor Jad Khater does not have a long artistic career, but his career is distinguished by great diversity, and by roles that attract the attention of the audience, even if their scope is compact.
The Art website had a special interview with Jad Khater, in which he revealed some of the problems he faced during his participation in Arabized Turkish works. He talked about the scenes of the “Agent” series, and what scares him in his artistic career. He also revealed his opinion about presenting a comedy, and the names of the directors who he wishes to participate. In their works.

You described the role of “Yamen” in the series “The Client” as “small and fun.” What are the factors that made the work enjoyable? What does it tell us about dealing with the work team as a whole?

This is the role I enjoyed performing the most, despite my love for all my previous work, this role was written and composed in a way that helps the actor and makes him give his best, since reading the script and the story it tells, Rami Koussa writing it, and the extent to which he gave importance to the characters. Of course, it was very tiring work. I had to move to Istanbul for a whole year, but I am very grateful to be part of this work.

What is the most challenging thing about participating in Arabized Turkish works, especially since you also participated in the series “Stiletto”?

The most challenging thing was moving to live far away from our families and loved ones, but this annoying feeling eased over time, and the work team became like a second family to us, and there was great speed in the work, there is not a lot of time between receiving the script and starting filming, the series is written during filming, The actor would prefer to know the end of events before submitting the work so that he can improve his performance, but I am truly grateful if he is in “Stiletto” or “The Client.”

Can we see a major transformation in Yamen’s personality? Will the audience be surprised by a huge event that affects the character’s path?

The development that the character “Yamen” will experience has already appeared since his first appearance, and as the episodes progress through his lifestyle, living and thinking, it even clearly shows that he is influenced by living with Mrs. “Mayada”, whose role is embodied by the Syrian actress Yara Sabry, who serves as his mother. It teaches him how to improve his way of life, and the development of Yamen’s character appears even in his relationship with Amir, whose role is played by the Syrian actor Samer Ismail. The character will change with the events, and “Yamen” will appear in situations that we will not expect from him.

Most of your scenes brought you together with the characters “Amir,” “Nour,” and “Mayada,” played by actors Samer Ismail, Mia Saeed, and Yara Sabry. Give me a prominent trait in the personality of each of them, on both the practical and personal levels?

Most of the scenes brought me together with Mayada and Nour, followed by Amir. Samer Ismail is a very fine actor. I learned a lot from him behind and in front of the camera. I love Yara Sabry very much. She is a generous and handsome actress, and I enjoy watching her while she performs the work. I tell her that she reminds me of my mother. She is a very handsome person in form and content, and Mia Saeed has worked a lot from her, and she is very real. I spent most of my time behind the camera with Yara and Mia, and we became very close.

We saw a comedic side to the character of “Yamen.” Are you thinking of presenting a character?Doing pure comedy?

“Yamen” did not intend to be amusing. On the contrary, he was very solemn, and this is what made the audience around him laugh. As for presenting a purely comedic work, then certainly yes, I am an actor with talent, and I hope to show it in any type of work. I do not like to limit myself to a type. one.

As a Lebanese actor, did your participation, even in compact roles, in Arabized Turkish works, and joint Arab works, accelerate your participation further?

Yes, definitely. My participation in this type of work introduced the public to me, especially since I am not a first-class actor, and I hope to become like that one day. These works exposed my face to an audience that does not follow purely Lebanese works, and helped me enter the Arab market more quickly than Lebanese works.

The role of “Roy” in the series “Stiletto” is considered somewhat out of the ordinary. To what extent does performing this character require you to have confidence in yourself and in your acting abilities, so that you are not constrained to this type of role?

The role of “Roy” was one of the roles that I enjoyed playing. It was a very effortless role, and the audience loved the role. I am not afraid of being constrained to one type of role, if I do not repeat it more than once. I refuse to repeat roles that are similar to each other, and this is what slowed down my career. I strive to look for sophisticated roles, and I love my work.

We notice your great interest in your appearance and in the field of fashion. Do you care?Participating in coordinating Luke, the character you embody in the series?

Frankly, I am not a person close to the field of fashion, and what I share with the public is with the lend a hand of experienced people, but with regard to the characters, of course I give my opinion, and this matters to me, and the discussion takes place between the stylist, the director, and the actor, to appear with the look that best suits the character.
Sometimes there’s a certain decision about what the character is wearing, and then we don’t give an opinion about the clothes.

Who is the Arab director whose work you follow regularly, and whose work you have never participated in?

There are many names I hope to participate in works directed by them, including directors Laith Hajo, Rasha Sharbatji, Philip Asmar, and Elie Al-Samaan.

What is your next work after “Client”?

The series “The Name Doesn’t Matter” is scheduled to be shown soon, by writer Claudia Marchalian, directed by Layal Rajha, and starring Moatasem Al-Nahar, Andrea Taye, Gina Abu Zeid, Rabih Al-Ahmar… There are talks about other works, but we are waiting for the situation in Lebanon to composed down.
