“You have four hours to bring me what we want.” Netflix has unveiled an official trailer for a French action thriller film called Ad Vitam, directed by the camera operator turned filmmaker Rodolphe Lauga. The film features a screenplay co-written by Rodolphe Lauga and French actor Guillaume Canet, telling a story about a man trying to save his wife while tangled in a bigger conspiracy. After escaping from an attempted murder, Franck Lazarev must find his wife Léo, who has been kidnapped by a mysterious group of armed men. He is caught up by his past as a former member of the French Elite Intervention Squad (GIGN) and pulled into a state affair far beyond his control. Starring Guillaume Canet as Franck (doing lots of running), Stéphane Caillard, Nassim Lyes, Zita Hanrot, Alexis Manenti, & Johan Heldenbergh. Yet another localized French film offering from Netflix – it does look entertaining but still likely won’t find a huge audience outside of France in the end. Also this trailer doesn’t reveal the plot – what exactly do the bad guys “want” from him?

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Rodolphe Lauga’s film Ad Vitam, direct from Netflix’s YouTube:

After escaping an attempted murder, Franck Lazarev (Guillaume Canet) must find his wife Léo, who has been kidnapped by a mysterious group of armed men. He is caught up by his past as a former member of the French Elite Intervention Squad and pulled into a state affair far beyond his control. Ad Vitam (which means “for life” in Latin) is directed by French steadicam operator / filmmaker Rodolphe Lauga, director of the two films It’s Complicated and La Source previously, plus lots of camera op work. The screenplay is co-written by Guillaume Canet and Rodolphe Lauga, in collaboration with David Corona. It’s produced by Guillaume Canet and Jean Cottin. Netflix will debut Lauga’s Ad Vitam film streaming on Netflix worldwide starting on January 10th, 2025 just after New Years coming up. Who wants to see this? Look any good?
