“Contact with the other side is strictly forbidden.” Apple + Skydance have revealed the official trailer for an intriguing recent sci-fi action thriller called The Gorge, a recent film directed by Scott Derrickson (of Sinister, Doctor Strange, The Black Phone 1 + 2). This is ready to drop on Apple TV+ beginning in February, just in time for Valentine’s Day, early next year – unfortunately it’s only getting a streaming debut and no theatrical release (as far as we know). Two highly-trained sniper operatives (Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy) are appointed to posts within guard towers on opposite sides of a immense and highly classified gorge, protecting the world from an undisclosed, mysterious evil that lurks within. They bond from a distance while trying to stay vigilant in defending against an unseen enemy. Despite the corrupt and lethal world they operate in – they still find a soulmate in each other. Ah so that’s why it’s a Valentine’s Day release. It co-stars Anya Taylor-Joy & Miles Teller, as well as William Houston, Samantha Coughlan, Alessandro Garcia, Greta Hansen, and featuring Sigourney Weaver. This looks like a George Miller movie – much bigger in scope & scale than expected, a love story intertwined with a story about defending us from the gates to Hell. Wow.

The Gorge is directed by acclaimed American genre filmmaker Scott Derrickson, director of the films The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Sinister, Deliver Us from Evil, Marvel’s Doctor Strange, and The Black Phone previously, plus an ep of “Snowpiercer” and a compact in V/H/S/85. The screenplay is written by Zach Dean. Produced by David Ellison for Skydance, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, Scott Derrikson, C. Robert Cargill, Sherryl Clark, Adam Kolbrenner, Zach Dean, Gregory Goodman. Apple debuts Derrickson’s The Gorge film streaming on Apple TV+ starting on February 14th, 2025 early next year.
