The actress and daytime talk show host lost her “dream home” in the Malibu fire. Lake documented it on Instagram, posting videos of her and her husband, Ross Burningham, attempting to save their home. “1/7/25 The day we lost our home. 😭💔timeline of our efforts to save our beloved home in Malibu,” she wrote on Instagram. Lake included a timeline of events, sharing that she and Burnhingham ultimately decided to abandon their home at 8:02 p.m. on January 7th. “This loss is immeasurable. It’s the spot where we got married 3 years ago,” Lake shared in a separate post. “I grieve along with all of those suffering during this apocalyptic event.”
Sandra Lee
The Emmy-winning television chef and former unofficial First Lady of New York City has lost her home in the Palisades fire. “My house is gone-I cried all night and thought about every room, nook, and cranny,” she wrote on Instagram. “It was perfection and now it’s just ash.” Lee also shared some harrowing videos of the Palisades fire on Instagram as she evacuated.
Eugene Levy
The Emmy-winning Schitt’s Creek star also lost his home in the Palisades fire. Since 2021, the Canadian actor has served as the honorary mayor of the Pacific Palisades, a figurehead position for the community held by previous residents including Billy Crystal and Martin Short. His son, actor Dan Levy, shared the news on his Instagram story: “Heartbroken for my family, my friends, and the people of LA affected by the catastrophic fires.”
Cameron Mathison
Soap opera star Cameron Matthison took to Instagram to document the loss of his Altadena home in an Instagram video. “We are safe but this is what’s left of our beautiful home,” he wrote on social media. “Our home where our kids were raised and where they wanted to raise their own someday.” The Daytime Emmy-nominated Canadian actor currently stars on General Hospital. “I’ve lost my home and everything that I own,” he said on Good Morning America.“I have this hoodie and a pair of pants and two pairs of sneakers left. That’s it.”
Rosie O’Donnell
The comedian, actress, and former The View co-host lost her Malibu beachfront property in California wildfires. O’Donnell, who’s set to return to television this year with a role on And Just Like That, shared the news that her home was gone on TikTok. “On pch in malibu – the whole of beach front homes gone – including the one i lived in #thankyoufirefighters,” she wrote.
Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag
One of the first celebrity couples to share that they had lost their home in the fire, The Hills star Spencer Pratt watched his Pacific Palisades with Hills co-star and wife Heidi Montag burn down via security camera footage. “When your house burns down and you have nothing, your parents’ house burns down, and they have nothing,” said Pratt in a TikTok video. “Obviously I’m in shock. My brain’s not functioning, I think this is the most unhinged post you’ve seen.” Pratt has posted several videos on his personal TikTok rummaging through the remains of their home, managing to find a water fountain, their sons’ playset and some crystals from his signature collection.

Television host and daughter of overdue great comedian Joan Rivers, Melissa Rivers’s home was destroyed by the Palisades fire. She managed to save her mother’s 1990 Emmy for outstanding talk show host for The Joan Rivers Show from the fire. “To be 100% honest, I grabbed my mom’s Emmy, a photo of my dad and a drawing that my mother had done of me and my son,” she said on CNN. “I went for a drawing of my mother’s rather than a photo because I know I can find the photos. [The drawing] I can’t replace.”
Candy Spelling
Candy Spelling, widow to multi-millionaire television producer Aaron Spelling and mother to actress Tori Spelling, lost the Malibu home she owned with her overdue husband for over 50 years. The $23 million dollar Malibu property was separate from the infamous Spelling mansion, located in Holmby Hills. “I’m in shock and processing this massive loss for our family,” Spelling told TMZ on Thursday, January 9. “I am beyond grateful for the memories. It was truly a wonderful gift to have.”
Miles Teller
Top Gun: Maverick star Miles Teller lost his Pacific Palisades home in the fire. His wife, Keleigh Teller, shared the news in an Instagram post which captured the last photo she took of their home, before it burned to the ground. “To everyone reaching out I can’t thank you enough, your kind hearts have meant the world, I’ll never forget them,” she wrote. “Community has come out stronger than I could imagine, pacific palisades I love you beyond measure you are a little slice of heaven, we will come back stronger than ever.”
Milo Ventimiglia
The actor and his pregnant wife Jarah Ventimiglia saw their home destroyed in the Palisades fires. Ventigmilia acknowledged the depressed parallel between the tragedy and a plotline on his TV series This Is Us in which his character, Jack Pearson, dies of smoke inhalation after his home burns down. “You know, it’s not lost on me, life imitating art,” he said. Ventimiglia’s This Is Us co-star Mandy Moore also saw her Altadena home severely damaged, but not entirely destroyed, from the Eaton fire.
Diane Warren
Diane Warren, famed songwriter and honorary Oscar recipient, lost the beach house she’s owned for over 30 years in the Malibu fire. “This is the last pic I took of Leah’s rock from my beach house. I’ve had this house for almost 30 years. It looks like it was lost in the fire last nite,” wrote the 15-time Oscar nominee in an Instagram caption. “There’s a rainbow shining on it which I’m taking as a sign of hope for all creatures who have been affected by this tragedy.”
Rainn Wilson
The Office star Rainn Wilson shared that his Ventura County home was severely damaged and “almost burned down” in the California wildfires. Wilson, who memorably played Michael Scott’s right hand man Dwight Schrute, thanked his wife Holiday Reinhorn for making sure their pet pigs, Amy and Shorty, made it out unharmed. “We are some of the luckiest people in Ventura County,” he said on Instagram. “The Mountain fire was absolutely devastating and two of our closest neighbors completely lost their houses,”
James Woods
The conservative actor lost his Pacific Palisades home in the wildfires, and quickly pointed blame at California’s liberal politicians. “The firefighters risking their lives to save our homes deserve the highest praise and gratitude. The politicians who deprived them of the means to do their job, and literally left them using purses to quell the conflagration should be in prison,” he wrote on X. Woods broke down in tears while appearing on CNN talking about the fire, but has remained skeptical of climate change’s role in the devastation in the aftermath. “This fire is not from ‘climate change,’ you ignorant a-shole,” he wrote in a reply on X. “It’s because liberal idiots like you elect liberal idiots like Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass.”
