“Will you shut the F up!” Listen to these guys! Pay attention to the movie, stop talking and put away your phones. Simple as that – this is the right way to experience a movie together at the movie theater. Another fun Alamo Drafthouse PSA has just arrived online – this time it features the two legendary actors John Lithgow & Geoffrey Rush together. Last year they visited the Alamo Drafthouse cinema in Austin, Texas to premiere their horror film called The Rule of Jenny Pen (which I am a huge fan of as well) at Fantastic Fest. It’s opening soon in theaters this week so this video is dropping now. They recorded this fun video for the Drafthouse cinema chain which will play in front of movies at the chain. It’s their usual reminder that their rule (which should be the rule at ALL cinemas) is that if you talk during the movie or using your phone you will be kicked out. Just don’t do it! An unsettling thriller revolving around an acting duel between two stars of the caliber of Geoffrey Rush and John Lithgow. A judge is hospitalized in an asylum after suffering a stroke. There, he falls into the clutches of a twisted patient, who uses his doll, Jenny Pen, as an instrument to impose his will on the destitute inmates. The clash between them will cause a wave of violence and terror to totally shake up the place. The Rule of Jenny Pen is directed by New Zealand filmmaker James Ashcroft, making his second feature film after Coming Home in the Dark previously, and many other compact films. The screenplay is written by James Ashcroft and Eli Kent; based on the compact story by Owen Marshall. Produced by Catherine Fitzgerald and Orlando Stewart. This initially premiered at Fantastic Fest 2024 and Sitges Film Festival (read our review). IFC releases Ashcroft’s The Rule of Jenny Pen in select US theaters starting March 7th, 2025. Who’s in?
