“Alcohol isn’t the problem – it’s people.” Quiver Distribution has revealed an official trailer for an indie film titled Off the Record, another story about a musician in love. This premiered at the 2024 Heartland Film Festival last year, and it debuts on VOD starting in May coming soon. Astor Grey, a up-and-coming singer-songwriter in Los Angeles, quickly falls for washed-up rock star Brandyn Verge. Their whirlwind romance spirals into a obscure tale of manipulation, forcing Astor to fight for her independence and reclaim her music & identity. Real life musician Rainey Qualley (Margaret’s sister who also made the music video brief Love Me Like You Hate Me) stars as Astor Grey, a talented singer whose life takes a obscure turn when she meets Brandyn. Also with Ryan Hansen, Olivia Sui, Julia Campbell, Will Peltz, and Rebecca De Mornay. The film features two songs by Qualley, performing under her stage name Rainsford. It also features two up-to-date tracks, including the powerful anthem “See Me Cry”, and a haunting cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire”, which will be included on her up-to-date album released alongside the film next month. What begins as a whirlwind love story unravels into a gripping tale of manipulation and resilience as Astor fights to reclaim her autonomy and her music. Off the Record is written and directed by American indie filmmaker Kirsten Foe, a stuntwoman turned director making her feature directorial debut after a few other brief films previously. Produced by Gabe Rodriguez and Kristen Foe. This initially premiered at the 2024 Heartland Film Festival last year. Quiver Distr. will debut Foe’s Off the Record in select US theaters + on VOD starting May 2nd, 2025 coming soon. Anyone interested in it?
