Kôki Seeks Vengeance in Samurai Thriller Film ‘Tornado’ Official Trailer

“I will destroy you! I am Tornado! Remember my name.” 🌪 We will remember! IFC Films has unveiled an official trailer for an indie revenge thriller called Tornado, not to be confused with the perilous weather phenomenon. This UK film premiered at the 2025 Glasgow Film Festival in Scotland earlier this year, and it will be out in theaters starting in May this summer. A Japanese puppeteer’s daughter gets caught up with a group of violent criminals when their show crosses paths with a crime gang, led by Sugarman and his son Little Sugar. When her father’s puppet Samurai show is ambushed by this notorious gang, Tornado vows to seek vengeance and forge her own destiny by stealing the gang’s ill-gotten gold. Starring Japanese model / actress Kôki (aka Mitsuki Kimura) as leading lady Tornado, along with Tim Roth, Takehiro Hira, Jack Lowden, Douglas Russell, Rory McCann, and Alex Macqueen. Okay this looks legitimately badass – another killer vengeance tale. I hope she slays them all! Kick their ass, Tornado. Check out the trailer below.

Set in the rugged landscape of 1790s Britain, Tornado is a youthful and determined Japanese woman who finds herself caught in a perilous situation when she and her father’s traveling puppet Samurai show crosses paths with a gang of ruthless criminals led by Sugarman, and his ambitious son Little Sugar. In an attempt to create a modern life for herself, Tornado seizes the opportunity to take matters into her own hands and steal the gold from their most recent heist. With her father murdered by the gang and her life in grave danger, Tornado races against time to escape a violent demise and avenge her father’s death. Tornado is written and directed by British filmmaker John Maclean, director of the film Slow West previously, plus a few shorts and music videos. It’s produced by Leonora Darby, James Harris, and Mark Lane. This initially premiered at the 2025 Glasgow Film Festival earlier this year, and also opens in the UK this May. IFC Films debuts Maclean’s Tornado film in select US theaters starting on May 30th, 2025 coming soon. Intrigued?
