Your day is about to get a whole lot more Fantastic – a bumper, brand recent trailer has dropped for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the 60s-set adventure that sees Marvel’s First Family step into the MCU proper. There’s a family dinner, The Thing teddy bears, and a threat that endangers Earth on a scale the planet has never faced before. Have a watch below.

As the trailer begins, Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) are America’s sweethearts, beloved across the country as four brave astronauts who went up into space and came back down as super-powered beings. We see Ben and their robot pal preparing a meal, before Sue is revealed to be expecting a baby – all is well in Casa Fantastic. That is, until Julia Garner’s super-shiny Silver Surfer rocks up, and declares Earth as “marked for death”. Not ideal, is it? With the gigantic Galactus (check out the size of that shoe) on the rampage, Reed and co. are forced to stand against him, and protect the people who so admire them.

It promises a thrilling Marvel movie on a world-ending scale, with the retro setting and familial drama adding a whole recent energetic to the usual superhero escapades. Plus, there’s a quick first glance at Reed’s stretchy powers, as he reaches between buildings during an attack on New York City. Clearly, one petite step for him is actually a giant leap for the rest of mankind.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is directed by WandaVision’s Matt Shakman, and comes to UK cinemas on 25 July.
