Everybody give your very best “yes and” to Prime Video today, as the trailer for Deep Cover has finally arrived. Starring Orlando Bloom (The Lord of the Rings trilogy) and Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World franchise), the movie’s plot centers around an improv teacher (Howard) who finds herself leading an infiltration into a criminal organization with the aid of two of her students (Bloom, Nick Mohammed). Featuring supporting performances from Paddy Considine (House of the Dragon), Sean Bean (Game of Thrones), Sonoya Mizuno (Crazy Rich Asians), and Ian McShane (the John Wick franchise), the film looks to be another promising addition to the streamer’s comedy-action lineup.

Howard’s Kat is your average everyday entertainer in the trailer for Deep Cover. She’s taken up a recent job as an improv teacher, where she instructs both humorous and unfunny people on how to bs their way through scenes in the most comedic way possible. One night, her class’s performance draws a special guest, when an undercover agent (Bean) asks Kat to apply her special set of skills to break a criminal case wide open. With cash on the table, Kat asks her two top performing students (Bloom, Mohammed) to join her in the sting. What ensues next is precisely what one would imagine from a film of this kind — plenty of one-liners, action-packed sequences, character work, and lots of “yes and”.

Moving from television to filmmaking, Deep Cover marks the third feature-length film for its director, Tom Kingsley, who holds credits on small-screen favorites including Ghosts, Stath Lets Flats, and Doctor Who. The fast-paced, high-octane comedy script was co-penned by Derek Connolly, Colin Trevorrow, Ben Ashenden, and Alexander Owen, with Trevorrow also serving as a producer alongside Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald. This marks a Jurassic World reunion of sorts, given that Colin Trevorrow directed Bryce Dallas Howard in the first and third installments of the trilogy.

What Else Have We Seen From ‘Deep Cover’?

Earlier this month, as part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event for the summer lineup of films, we gave our readers a fresh look at Howard and her co-star Paddy Considine, along with several of their other co-stars who looked ready to snap into action. The shot leans into the danger that Kat and her fellow improv performers will put themselves in to make a few extra bucks and aid out law enforcement on a job they can’t do without them.

Check out the official trailer for Deep Cover above and head over to Prime Video on June 12 to see how the improv comedians fare against a gang of professional criminals.
