One of Apple TV+’s most ambitious series just got a galactic up-to-date update. The streamer has officially released the first teaser trailer and images for Foundation Season 3 and also announced that the show will return to the platform on July 11. Foundation will premiere on episode on July 11, with subsequent episodes releasing weekly until the third season culminates in an epic finale on September 12. Season 3 is set 152 years after the events of Season 2, when The Foundation has become increasingly established well beyond its humble beginnings, and the Cleonic Dynasty’s Empire is fading. As both of these groups form a shaky alliance, a up-to-date warlord simply known as The Muse emerges with his sights set on ruling the galaxy via military force and mind control.

Joining the Season 3 cast are Emmy-winner Cherry Jones, Brandon P. Bell, Synnøve Karlsen, Cody Fern, Tómas Lemarquis, Alexander Siddig, Troy Kotsur, and Pilou Asbæk. Returning stars Laura Birn, Cassian Bilton, Terrence Mann, and Rowena King will also star. The series is based on Isaac Asimov’s award-winning brief stories and created for television by David S. Goyer. Returning to star in leading roles in Season 3 are Jared Harris and Lee Pace alongside Lou Llobell. Harris is a two-time Emmy nominee and is also known for his work on The Crown and Mad Men. As for Pace, Foundation is among his most famed roles, along with starring as Ronan in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. He’s also been tapped for a role opposite Glen Powell in The Running Man, the remake from director Edgar Wright.

The most popular show on Apple TV+ at the time of writing is Your Friends & Neighbors, the drama series led by Landman veteran Jon Hamm. Following closely behind it is The Studio, the Hollywood spoof show led by Seth Rogen that was renewed for Season 2 yesterday. Severance also remains one of the more popular shows on Apple TV+ despite going off the air more than a month ago, along with Ted Lasso, which has ridden a wave of positivity back into the top five following the news that the show will return for a fourth season. Ridley Scott’s Dope Thief has also been a hit on Apple TV+.

Foundation Season 3 will premiere on July 11. Check out the up-to-date teaser trailer and images for the series above and watch the first two seasons of Foundation on Apple TV+.
