Neon International has commenced talks in Cannes on the Arctic-set Mads Mikkelsen action thriller Sirius, which Decal will distribute wide in the US.

Lee Smith, the Oscar-winning editor of Dunkirk whose credits include Inception and Spectre, makes his feature directorial debut from a screenplay by Tony Mosher inspired by the Sirius Patrol, the Danish special forces unit tasked with defending Greenland’s 8,700-mile coastline.

Pascal Degove and Matt Williams will produce for Future Artists Entertainment and Deborah Acoca serves as executive producer

Decal was a joint venture set up in 2021 by Neon and Bleecker Street to distribute third-party titles and makes its first wide release with Sirius as it ramps up its acquisition and distribution activities.

Recent releases include McVeigh starring Alfie Allen, and Which Brings Me To You starring Lucy Hale and Nat Wolff.

Among Mikkelsen’s credits are Another Round, Casino Royale, The Hunt, Doctor Strange, and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore.

The Neon International Cannes slate includes Michael Angelo Covino’s Cannes Premiere selection Splitsville starring Dakota Johnson and Adria Arjona; Takashi Miike’s Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo with Shun Oguri and Lily James; Nicolas Winding Refn’s Her Private Hell starring Sophie Thatcher and Charles Melton; and Sundance horror acquisition Together from Michael Shanks’ Sundance with Alison Brie and Dave Franco.
