The Adriatic Film and TV Awards, an awards ceremony recognising film and television from former Yugoslavia countries, has been launched in Cannes by three of the region’s film festivals.

The Awards will be held from October 24-26 this year, at the Porto Montenegro venue in Tivat, Montenegro.

Winners will be selected by the modern Adriatic Film and TV Academy, operating within the Network of Festivals in the Adriatic Region organisation (NFAR).

The network was founded by Bosnia & Herzegovina’s Sarajevo Film Festival, Croatia’s Zagreb Film Festival and Serbia’s Auteur Film Festival.

The modern Awards replace and aim to expand on Sarajevo’s own Heart of Sarajevo Awards for TV series, adding in recognition for films.

The Academy will unite more than 500 film and television professionals from the region, with voting beginning in June 2025. Nominations will be announced during the 31st Sarajevo Film Festival, which runs from August 15-22.

The ceremony in October will gather leading regional talent for networking and the promotion of Balkan cinema.

Sarajevo Film Festival and NFAR have signed a strategic agreement with Porto Montenegro, which has launched film studio intricate Porto Montenegro Studios in the last few years.
