EXCLUSIVE: Tull Stories has acquired Jack King’s migrant drama The Ceremony for UK and Irish distribution.

The debut feature won the inaugural Sean Connery award for feature filmmaking excellence at Edinburgh International Film Festival last year and was subsequently nominated for two British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs).

The Ceremony follows two migrant workers working at a car wash in Bradford who are dragged into an escalating moral crisis over the course of one night. It stars Tudor Cucu Dumitrescu, Erdal Yildiz and Mo’min Swaitat. Producers are Hollie Bryan and Lucy Meer for the UK’s Cosmosquare Films and Strive Films.

Tull Stories is releasing the film on August 22 with a subsequent UK Q&A tour.

Jonny Tull, of Tull Stories, said: “The Ceremony is a wonderful achievement. Its fiercely independent spirit, authentic and human storytelling and the sheer cinematic craft on display makes for a powerful experience.”
