This week’s episode of the Empire Podcast sees Chris Hewitt break out the bleep machine for a particularly sweary chat with M3GAN 2.0 star, the delightful Ivanna Sakhno, [1:10:44 — 1:23:01 approx] and quietly judge the football team of Damson Idris, star of Joseph Kosinski’s high-octane racing drama F1. [25:45 — 38:45 approx] Or F1: The Movie, to give it its full marketing moniker, which inspires this week’s listener question as Chris, James Dyer, Sophie Butcher and our Australian chum, Jeremy Dylan, discuss the best movies that have ‘The Movie’ in the title.

Elsewhere, our very own fantastic four get stuck into a busy week for movie news — one that’s seen Denis Villeneuve hired for James Bond (as the director, not the super spy), Aaron Sorkin sign on for The Social Network Part II, and Doug Liman take a stand — well, The Stand — for a fresh adaptation of Stephen King’s eponymous doorstop tome. To give fair warning, the team get into a lengthy chat about the news that Villeneuve is directing the first Bond movie of the Amazon era, so should you not be into Bond blather then you may want to dip out between the 41:40 — 59:56 mark of the pod. (Editor’s note: But not before you hear an excellent bit of Dune related punnery right at the top of that chat!) Oh, and on top of all the usual news and nonsense, the team also put their heads together to review F1 and M3GAN 2.0 as well, while Jeremy shows us that he’s the man of two voices… you lucky, lucky lot. As ever, please do enjoy.

You can listen to this week’s episode (which, if you’re counting, is #674) on the pod app of your choice.
