Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool has come a long way since being introduced with his mouth sewn shut in X-Men Origins: Wolverine some 16 years ago. He’s buddied up with Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Colossus in Deadpool, joined (and violently lost) the X-Force in Deadpool 2, and formed a mutie supergroup with Wolverine, Gambit, and the Foxverse gang in MCU debut Deadpool & Wolverine just last year. But could the Merc With A Mouth, Marvel Jesus himself, be about to link up with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: Doomsday? Reynolds’ latest Instagram post certainly isn’t shooting down the possibility. Check it out below;

Okay. We hear you. It’s not a lot to go on. Ryan Reynolds posting a graffiti’d upon Avengers ‘A’ in the dead of night could just be a classic bit of bait for Marvelheads to lose their shit over. But then again, you’d be a fool not to notice the timing of Reynolds’ post coinciding with A) production ramping up on The Russo Brothers’ hotly anticipated return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and B) recent whispers doing the rounds that a second major Doomsday casting announcement may be imminent. Plus, of course, it’d be remiss of us not to mention the fact that the cast for Marvel Studios’ next major team-up event does already include Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine co-star Channing Tatum, whose Gambit will be in the shuffle as the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the New Avengers, and a whole bunch of ex-X-Men prepare to come face to face with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

So, is there room for Wade Wilson in the Russos’ movie? With Avengers: Doomsday knees deep into production, and Reynolds’ IG post fanning the flames of speculation, we can only imagine that we’ll find out the answer to that question very soon. But until we know for sure, let the record state that we are fully on board with the idea of Marvel Jesus’ Second Coming, and if Reynolds has any spare time between being one of Hollywood’s most sought-after stars and the co-owner of Wrexham AFC, we’d very much be keen to see him back in the suit for Doomsday. Let’s just hope if he is on board, his second interview to join the team goes better than the first one, eh? No smashterbation this time, DP!
