Park Chan-wook, Dwayne Johnson, Tessa Thompson and her Hedda director Nia DaCosta are confirmed for the In Conversation With… series at Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF, September 4-14).

The line-up announced on Tuesday will also hear from Ryan Reynolds, and Project Y co-stars Han So-hee and Jun Jong-seo.

South Korean auteur Park will discuss his career and his latest film No Other Choice, which premieres in Venice and gets its North American premiere in Toronto. Neon holds North American rights to No Other Choice, and Park’s credits include Oldboy and Decision To Leave.

Johnson and A24 are targetting awards recognition with Benny Safdie’s The Smashing Machine, a biopic about MMA fighter Mark Kerr that also stars Emily Blunt. Johnson will discuss his journey from wrestling to Hollywood, where he co-founded Seven Bucks Productions and has led numerous tentpoles.

Canadian actor, producer, Wrexham AFC co-owner Ryan Reynolds and star of R-rated smash Deadpool & Wolverine will discuss his career, production company Maximum Effort, and his role as producer on TIFF opening selection John Candy: I Like Me.

Thompson and DaCosta will talk about their reimagining of Henrik Ibsen’s classic play Hedda Gabler, and dig into their respective careers.

TIFF Next Wave presents an inaugural TIFF: Close-Up conversation with Project Y co-stars Han So-hee and Jun Jong-seo, programmed with the festival’s under-25 audience in mind. The pair will discuss Lee Hwan’s female-led heist thriller, their respective careers, and starring roles in K-Pop music videos like Seven by Jung Kook and Derre by Bibi.

Additionally, TIFF said its invite-only Black Excellence Brunch, now in its third year, will return and spotlight the 30th anniversary and legacy of the Planet Africa festival programme founded by TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey in 1995.
