Germany has selected Mascha Schilinski’s Cannes award-winner Sound Of Falling as its entry for best international feature at the Oscars.

The drama is set across a century on a remote German farm and depicts four women who are separated by time and united by trauma. It was one of four features shortlisted by Germany’s independent Oscar selection committee.

Sound Of Falling first premiered at Cannes Film Festival earlier this year where it won the jury prize and scored a 2.8 on Screen’s Cannes jury grid.

Among the cast are Luise Heyer, Lena Urzendowsky, Susanne Wuest and Lea Drinda. Schilinski co-wrote the screenplay with Louise Peter while the film was produced by Studio Zentral with ZDF/Das Kleine Fernsehspiel.

mk2 Films is handling international sales on the title which has already sold to Mubi in the UK, Ireland and North America.

Germany last won the Oscar in 2022 with Edward Berger’s All Quiet On The Western Front and has won three times as well as collecting 22 nominations.
