Richard Linklater, Edgar Reitz and Nia DaCosta are to be honoured at the Rome Film Festival, which runs from October 15 to 26.
The festival will give its lifetime achievement award to Richard Linklater, the director of the “Before” trilogy (Before Sunrise, Before Sunset and Before Midnight) and Boyhood. Linklater will present Nouvelle Vague, which world premiered in Competition at Cannes in Rome. The award will be presented by Italian director Marco Bellocchio.
Edgar Reitz will receive Rome’s master of film award. The German filmmaker, known for Heimat, will present his latest film, Leibniz – Chronicle of a Lost Painting, about the German philosopher. The Master of Film Award will be presented by Italian director Nanni Moretti.
Rome is presenting the progressive lifetime achievement award will go to New York director Nia DaCosta, behind titles such as crime film Little Woods; the horror film Candyman; and fantasy film The Marvels.
DaCosta is attending the festival with Hedda, her interpretation of Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler.
