Known for playing pretty boy characters in projects like HBO’s Euphoria, Netflix’s The Kissing Booth and Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn, Jacob Elordi will soon go against his repeated type cast to appear as ghoulish and ghastly as ever in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. Today, Netflix has unveiled a brand-new trailer that depicts the spine-tingling horror that will unfold later this month when the film celebrates a narrow theatrical run. In it, we see del Toro’s magnificent cast of characters and their actor counterparts, as well as Elordi’s haunting monster whose green skin is a far cry from the typical blemish-free complexion that the actor is known for.

Elordi’s monster may appear as the most terrifying part of del Toro’s latest cinematic effort, but he’s far from the only monster in the production. Depending on how you look at it, there are plenty of monstrous characters scattered throughout the story, with Oscar Isaac’s Dr. Victor Frankenstein at the head of the line. The madman behind such an unthinkable creation, Victor, will be the main character of the film, as audiences follow along with his decision to bring a man back from the dead and the major repercussions that follow.

As we’ve come to expect from del Toro, the Academy Award-winning filmmaker has assembled a dynamite team to lend a hand him deliver the latest adaptation of Mary Shelley’s beloved 1818 gothic novel of the same name. In addition to Elordi and Isaac, Frankenstein will also feature an ensemble cast that includes the talents of Mia Goth (Pearl), Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Basterds), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), Felix Kammerer (All Quiet on the Western Front), David Bradley (Game of Thrones), Lauren Collins (Degrassi: The Next Generation) and Lars Mikkelsen (Face to Face).

‘Frankenstein’ Won’t Be Your Typical Horror Movie

Although he may be known for his horror leanings, del Toro has previously stated that Frankenstein will be a monster of a different color, revealing,

“Somebody asked me the other day: Does it have really scary scenes? For the first time, I considered that. It’s an emotional story for me. It’s as personal as anything. I’m asking a question about being a father, being a son… I’m not doing a horror movie — ever. I’m not trying to do that.”

Check out the monstrous design behind del Toro’s latest project above and see Frankenstein in select cinemas on October 17 ahead of its Netflix release on November 7.
