Bring your empty mugs and prepare to belly up to the bar because NBC has finally dropped the first Season 2 trailer for its returning hit sitcom, Happy’s Place. Marking Reba McEntire’s return to the tiny screen, the sophomore installment of one of the network’s newest and hottest productions is slated for a debut in just one month on November 7. Plenty of familiar faces are returning to the fold for another round of raucous fun from behind the titular bar, as, along with McEntire reprising her role as Bobbie, audiences can also expect to see Belissa Escobedo (Hocus Pocus 2), Melissa Peterman (Reba), Tokala Black Elk (American Primeval), Rex Linn (Better Call Saul) and Pablo Castelblanco (Alaska Daily) return as the characters that keep Bobbie on her toes.
Setting the tone for those who might not have tuned in for the first season, the trailer for Season 2 of Happy’s Place drops Bobbie (McEntire) right back into the center of things as she tries to navigate her life as a tiny business owner. This time around, she and her half-sister, Isabella (Escobedo), will face off against an incredibly formidable opponent when a mouse stakes out its territory, while Bobbie and Emmett (Linn) continue to dive headfirst into their slowburn, will-they-won’t-they romance that began building last season.
Happy’s Place isn’t just a meeting space for modern friends, but plenty of aged friends have also reunited on the set of the NBC sitcom. The first season featured numerous Reba reunions, bringing not just McEntire and Peterman back together on the tiny screen, but also featuring guest appearances from other members of the iconic show of yesteryear, including Steve Howey (High Potential) and Christopher Rich (Boston Legal). Season 2 is already bound to be no different, as yet another Reba alum, JoAnna Garcia Swisher (Freaks and Geeks), will also join the fold.
Will Reba McEntire Ever Be ‘Reba’ Again?
For a culture that’s so obsessed with reboots, sequels, and reimaginings, it might be shocking to many that a Reba revival never took off — but that’s not to say the powers that be didn’t try. During a recent interview, Reba showrunner Kevin Abbott, who serves in the same position for Happy’s Place, teased what could have been, revealing:
“We were going to be picking up in real time. The characters had all aged to their [real] ages. We were going to start with Reba potentially moving out of Houston, but realizing that she needed to stay put for the family.”
Fortunately for us, while there may not be a Reba revival on the way, Season 2 of Happy’s Place is just around the corner. Check out the first trailer above.
