Pack your bags and don’t forget to save room for your holiday spirit, the debut trailer for The Family Plan 2 has officially arrived. The Morgan family is back and this time, they’re going international, as audiences will watch the relatives travel across the pond to spend Christmas with one of their own. All the major players are returning, with Mark Wahlberg (Flight Risk) and Michelle Monaghan (The White Lotus) starring as family patriarch and matriarch, Dan and Jessica, alongside Zoe Colletti (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark) and Van Crosby (Splitting Up Together) as siblings Nina and Kyle, respectively. This time around, the gang will face a novel but familiar-to-Dan foe, with Game of Thrones alum, Kit Harington, joining the call sheet.
In the trailer, we see that Dan and Jessica have fully leaned into the former’s previous life of being a covert assassin, as the couple have now based their date nights around exhilarating faux missions. Back at home, Nina has moved out, leaving Kyle on babysitter duty for the youngest member of the Morgan household. With Christmas just over the horizon, and Nina staying put in Europe, the whole clan decides to make a vacation out of it, surprising the unexpecting Nina, who is living her best life in London.
While there, Dan picks up a last-minute job that will support fund their entire getaway, but things take a turn for the worse when he comes face-to-face with an enemy from his past. With this novel mysterious presence taking over Dan’s father’s rolodex of assassins, the Morgan family needs to go on the run, throwing them into an unexpected trek across Europe that places all of them at the center of the action.
Meet the Rest of the Faces Behind ‘The Family Plan 2’
In addition to the main players and Harington’s newly introduced villain, the sequel to Apple TV’s incredibly successful 2023 movie will also include supporting performances from Peter Lindsey, Theodore Lindsey and Reda Elazouar. The film also sees the return of filmmaker Simon Cellan Jones to the helm with David Coggeshall returning to pen the follow-up.
Although it wasn’t an immediate hit for the platform, going so far as to receive less than savory reviews from critics, the original movie became one of the hottest titles on Apple TV+ and held down the bragging rights of being the streamer’s most-viewed movie for a nice chunk of time. This success, paired with an ever-growing following, put it on track to receive a greenlight on the upcoming sequel that’s expected to do even better than the first.
