The Mediterrane Film Festival, which will take place in Malta on June 21-28, has added two fresh sections for its 2026 edition.
The event, led by festival director Pierre Agius and festival curator Mark Adams, now comprises five strands: Big Screen Competition (best of mainstream cinema), Mediterranean Competition (fresh films from the region), Mare Nostrum (for films with an environmental message), Best of the World (stimulating fresh voices), and Malta Focus (local shorts and features).
A jury will decide the winners of the Golden Bee Awards for the competitive strands, with the results to be unveiled on June 28.
The industry strand also returns this year, featuring panel discussions and masterclasses led by industry figures.
Malta Film Commissioner Johann Grech said: “With the 2026 edition, we are not only expanding the festival’s programme, but strengthening its role as a meeting point for talent, ideas, and opportunity.”
