The head of the Musicians Syndicate, Mustafa Kamel, has issued a statement regarding the incident between artist Mohamed Fouad and a doctor at Ain Shams Specialized Hospital.
Statement
As the head of the Musicians Syndicate, I extend my sincerest appreciation and respect to the doctors of our beloved country Egypt, as well as all the nursing staff, and Professor Dr. Osama Abdel-Hay, the head of the Doctors Syndicate. Following my expression of gratitude, I spoke with my colleague and brother, artist Mohamed Fouad, to learn more about the incident that was circulating on social media and media platforms.
Background
Fouad told me that his brother was in the hospital and a doctor informed him that his brother was dying. Fouad ran to the hospital, crying and praying, as he normally would when he receives this kind of news.
What Happened at the Hospital
Fouad arrived at the hospital and shared with me that he was ignored by the doctor, who was standing by the bed and writing on papers. Fouad wanted to know the status of his brother, what was wrong, and why he was being admitted to the operating room. The doctor replied, "Bring security to throw this guy outside." Fouad then informed the doctor that he needed to know who Fouad was and what his name was.
The Doctor’s Response
The doctor then pulled out a phone and sent Fouad a text message saying that Fouad would be assaulted. Fouad was shocked and requested that someone help him, as he was crying and feeling humiliated.
The Investigation
I informed Fouad that without the video footage, I could not take legal action against the doctor. However, upon reviewing the footage, it became apparent that the doctor’s behavior was not justified. As a result, the doctor was subjected to reprimands and was ordered to be investigated for the incident.
The Future Action
In the capacity of the Head of the Musicians Syndicate, I declare the necessity of standing by Fouad and assigning the Legal Affairs Department to follow up the matter legally and to investigate the reason and motive for the incident from its inception.
