“Their first equinox party! So let’s hope they survive.” Vertigo Releasing has unveield the full official trailer for the indie horror comedy titled Hold the Fort, made by filmmaker William Bagley. This first premiered at the 2025 Fantasia Film Festival last year, where it picked up tons of great reviews. It also went on to play at Beyond Fest, FrightFest London, Toronto After Dark, and other fests. Once they become homeowners, Lucas and Jenny think their life is finally coming together. Little do they know that their fresh house comes with a very large catch… and they are about to find themselves trapped in a battle between their Homeowners Association and an onslaught of monsters from hell! All kinds of crazy creatures and horror monsters. Hold the Fort is a crowd-pleasing festival hit that was hailed as “an absolute blast” and “the horror comedy of the year” from critics. The indie horror film features Chris Mayers, Levi Burdick, Mark Ashworth, and Julian Smith. Bagley adds: “Hopefully, through all the blood, laughs, fights, and gags, you leave the film feeling inspired to tackle whatever life throws at you.” Sounds wild! Seems crazy! It’s definitely worth a look.

Hold the Fort follows Lucas & Jenny (Chris Mayers & Haley Leary) who think their life is finally coming together when the couple become homeowners. Little do they know that their fresh house comes with a large catch. Lucas and Jenny soon find themselves in a fight for their lives when they become trapped in a battle between their Homeowners Association and an onslaught of monsters from hell. The horror-comedy takes the timely concern of home-ownership and wraps this up in an entertaining action-packed thrill ride. Hold the Fort is written and directed by American genre filmmaker William Bagley, director of the horror film The Murder Podcast previously, plus a few other shorts. Based on a story by Scott Hawkins. It’s produced by Matt Dodd, Luke Williams, Tim Reis, and Julian Smith. This initially premiered at the 2025 Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal last summer and also at Beyond Fest in the fall. Vertigo Releasing debuts Bagley’s Hold the Fort horror movie direct-to-VOD starting on June 23rd, 2026 coming soon. Who wants to watch this?
