“We got invited here because Hollywood screwed us. So let’s screw it back!” Good luck. Quiver Distribution has revealed an official trailer for an indie comedy called Above the Line, a wacky comedy crime thriller mashup arriving on VOD later this month. It looks like extra goofy, weird fun but not sure it’ll be worth the VOD rental price. Here’s the setup: Six struggling Hollywood hopefuls team up for the ultimate comeback – to rob the Academy Awards statuettes from the crooked producer who crushed their dreams. But in a town built on make-believe, pulling off the perfect heist might just be the major role of their lives. Well, that’s a wild concept for a film! But this indie comedy has only played at one festival and doesn’t seem to have much real buzz. With Gregg Henry, Jackson Pace, Cedric the Entertainer, Sophia Ali, Dylan Playfair, Suzy Nakamura, Reno Wilson, Adhir Kalyan, and Jamie Lee. This looks way too messy and underlit and tumultuous to actually be any good, despite an amusing premise. Get a look below if you’re curious anyway.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Jeffrey Scott Collins’ film Above the Line, direct from YouTube:

“Breaking in is just the beginning.” On Christmas eve, six fledgling Hollywood hopefuls get a mysterious knock at their door and an envelope of cash at their feet. It contains the ‘opportunity of a lifetime’ to go burglarize a mutually despised producer that once screwed them over. Who organized this holiday heist? Who will go through with this preposterous plan? Will these desperate idiots pull it off? Above the Line is directed by indie filmmaker Jeffrey Scott Collins, making his second feature after directing the film Poor Greg Drowning and the series “Glimpses of Greg” previously, plus many other tiny films. The screenplay is written by Jeffrey Scott Collins and Jono Matt. Produced by Walker Barnes, Jeffrey Scott Collins, Kemma Filby, Ian Michaels. This first premiered at the 2025 Sun Valley Film Festival. Quiver Distr. debuts Collins’ Above the Line film direct-to-VOD starting on June 26th, 2026 coming soon. Anyone want to watch this?
