“This is more than just a hostage situation…” Amazon MGM Studios has revealed the full official trailer for a recent series called American Hostage, ready for streaming on MGM+ starting this September. This is the exact same story told in the movie Dead Man’s Wire, which played in theaters earlier this year (and it’s very good). The series instead focuses the camera on radio host Fred Heckman, who was portrayed in Gus Van Sant’s film by Colman Domingo (as “Fred Temple” instead in that version). It’s a true story! This really did happen. Based on the podcast, American Hostage is a psychological thriller set in the 1970s that tells the fascinating story of Fred Heckman, a beloved Indianapolis radio reporter who’s thrust into the middle of a life-or-death crisis when the bitter hostage-taker Tony Kiritsis demands to be interviewed on his popular radio news program. Starring Jon Hamm as Fred & Giovanni Ribisi as Tony Kiritsis, Mireille Enos, William Jackson Harper, Kristoffer Polaha, & more.
