Just over a month to go before Disney’s sequel to their seafaring 2016 smash Moana hits cinemas, the House of Mouse are teasing more of what fans can expect from the return of Auli’i Cravalho’s titular master voyager and Dwayne Johnson’s semi-demi-god Maui.

A New Adventure Awaits

With the latest trailer, we get to see Maui back on top shapeshifting form, a fearsome looking new elemental foe, and brief glimpses of crew newcomers Moni, Kele and Loto, played by Hualālai Chung, David Fane and Rose Matafeo — as well as Awhimai Fraser’s mysterious Matangi and Moana’s ancestor Tautai Vasa (Gerald Ramsey). New ballad ‘We’re Back’ — penned by incoming sequel songwriters Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear alongside returnees Mark Mancina and Opetaia Foa’i — is a bit of a banger, too.

After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced. And, as we see in the new trailer, also wading into those long-lost waters for Moana 2 are Rachel House’s Gramma Tala, Temuera Morrison’s Chief Tui, and Nicole Scherzinger’s Sina.
