Honoring Theatrical Creators
There are many names of artists, critics and theatre makers who deserve to be honoured, but no festival can honour all those who deserve it.
History of Honoring Theatrical Creators
Dr. Sameh Mahran, President of the Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre, confirmed in important statements that the festival has been keen, since its first session, to honour a number of theatre artists with outstanding contributions and achievements that contributed to the progress of Egyptian theatre, regardless of their artistic orientations, whether experimental or otherwise.
According to Mahran, honoring theatrical creators is a way to appreciate their giving and contribution to the theater’s journey, and to send a message to the new generations that talent, giving, and dedication to the theater are the means to gain the respect and appreciation of their community.
Selecting Honorees
Mahran pointed out that there are many names that deserve to be honored, but no festival can honor all those who deserve it. Hence, the festival chooses a number of theater people every year, whether they are writers, critics, actors, or other theater makers, so that they represent, as much as possible, all trends and generations.
