“We’re going to leave our old lives behind, tear up the road ahead, and cause a travesty!” 🐒 Vertigo has unveiled an official trailer for an indie film titled Sunlight, made by British filmmaker Nina Conti, filmed around in the US. This premiered at the 2024 Melbourne & Edinburgh Film Festivals last year. Opening in the UK this June, but still no US date yet. Disappearing into a monkey costume and creating a modern persona, Jane strives to break free from a toxic relationship when she encounters suicidal radio show host, Roy, who presents a path to freedom. After hitting the open road in Roy’s Airstream, the unlikely duo hatch a plan that could assist finance a modern life but could also land them in jail. Starring Nina Conti as Jane & Shenoah Allen as Roy. It’s executive produced by filmmaker Christopher Guest. Described in reviews as “a darkly charming oddity of a movie.” This looks better than it sounds in writing – this funky trailer is worth a look.

Sunlight is directed by British filmmaker Nina Conti, director of the film Her Master’s Voice previously and various other projects + few TV series. The screenplay is co-written by its two stars Nina Conti & Shenoah Allen. Produced by Keagan Karnes, Will Machin, Tabitha McDonald, Sam Parker, Mykel Salazar, Nina Conti. This initially premiered at the 2024 Melbourne Film Festival last year. Vertigo Releasing will debut Nina Conti’s Sunlight film in UK cinemas starting on June 6th, 2025.
