Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater’s movie Wicked may not have won Grande her first Academy Award at the Oscars 2025 on Sunday, but the co-stars—who also became a couple while filming the two-part musical adaptation—still appeared to have a magical night at the ceremony, even exchanging some PDA in the audience.
Grande, who was nominated for best-supporting actress, walked the red carpet before the show in a custom powder-pink Schiaparelli haute couture look, the dress’s sculptural waist wowing with some 190,000 shimmering elements incorporated into a romantic tulle skirt.
She opened the broadcast with a performance alongside her Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo, where the two sang songs from The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz, and, of course, Wicked. Grande donned another custom Schiaparelli gown for that, this one a glittering red strapless gown, complete with a 3D shoe, reminiscent of a ruby red slipper, attached to the back of the bodice.
Slater, who donned a murky Giorgio Armani suit for his own red carpet walk, was spotted in the audience, eyes visibly misty, watching the performance.
Grande and Slater have yet to make their red-carpet debut as a couple: Though they’ve been romantically linked since summer 2023, when both of them separated from their now ex-spouses, they haven’t posed together for the mass of photographers.

That doesn’t mean that they didn’t take in the show together, though. During the ceremony, Slater and Grande looked joyful together, and were photographed holding hands in the crowd, as well as sharing an embrace.
