The world premiere of Samuel Abrahams’ Lady, starring Sian Clifford, is one of four titles to be added to the BFI London Film Festival 2025 (LFF, October 8-19) line-up, following its unveiling yesterday (September 3).
Clifford plays a narcissistic aristocrat who hires a struggling filmmaker to record her every move, in UK filmmaker Abrahams’ feature debut. The mockumentary is produced by the UK’s MetFilm, with sales repped by the company’s sales arm, and will premiere in the ‘dare’ strand.
The total number of world premieres in the festival is now up to seven. Three UK premieres have also been added, bringing the total number of features to 166, almost in line with 2024’s 168.
Italian filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino’s Mubi title La Grazia comes to the LFF ‘journey’ strand after Venice, Telluride and Busan. Toni Servillo plays a fictional president reaching the end of their final term in office.
Joining the ‘dare’ line-up is French director Claire Denis with The Fence, following San Sebastian and Toronto screenings. Mia McKenna-Bruce, Tom Blyth, Matt Dillon and Isaach de Bankolé star in the drama set on a white-run construction site in West Africa.
Argentine Gastón Solnicki’s The Souffler first played at Venice and is part of the ‘love’ strand. William Defoe plays the manager of a luxury hotel who decides to sabotage the plans of the Argentine developer who has acquired it.
