EXCLUSIVE: Actors from Daisy-May Hudson’s Lollipop and Nadia Fall’s Brides are among the 15 names longlisted for the breakthrough performance award at the 2025 British Independent Film Awards (Bifas).
Three actors are listed from Hudson’s debut fiction feature Lollipop: Posy Sterling (a Screen Star of Tomorrow in 2023), Isil Ahmed and Tegan-Mia Stanley Rhoads.

Ebada Hassan and Safiyya Ingar, stars of Fall’s debut feature Brides, both make the list; as do three actors from Stroma Cairns’ The Son And The Sea: Stanley Brock, Connor Tompkins and Jonah West.
Yasmin Finney, another Screen Star of Tomorrow from 2022, is also listed, for Ronan Corrigan’s LifeHack, alongside co-star Georgie Farmer; as is 2025 Screen Star Jade Croot for Rabbit Trap.
The longlisted talent will all be welcomed to the Bifa and We Are Bridge breakthrough performers programme, a six-month development and support scheme with sessions on career development, wellbeing, casting and financial literacy in addition to networking opportunities.
The final five nominees in the breakthrough performance category will be announced on Monday, November 3, with the winner revealed at the Bifa ceremony on Sunday, November 30 at the Roundhouse venue in Camden, London.
Previous winners in Bifa’s breakthrough performance category include Vivian Oparah, Naomi Ackie, Dev Patel, Ben Whishaw and Jamie Bell.
The Bifa longlists for its fresh talent, shorts, documentary, international, and maverick awards will be announced across the coming week.
