EXCLUSIVE: UK based sales and distribution outfit Blue Finch Films has boarded world sales for US writer-director Brock Bodell’s feature debut, horror Hellcat, ahead of its world premiere at Montreal’s Fantasia Film Festival (July 17 to August 3), and will introduce the project to buyers at Cannes.
A woman wakes up in a moving camper trailer with a horrifying wound. She’s warned by the driver that they have one hour to get to a doctor, or she’ll succumb to an unimaginably awful fate.
The cast includes Dakota Gorman, Todd Terry, Liz Atwater, Jordan Mullins, and a voice role from comic James Austin Johnson of Saturday Night Live.
Bodell also produces alongside Andrew Duensing and Nate Eggert.
Blue Finch Films’ director of distribution, Fatima Hayward, described the film as “a suspense-driven horror laced with bold stylistic choices that will keep audiences guessing until the very end”.
“My dream is that the world really embraces what we did with Hellcat and appreciates the risks we took in trying to make a wild independent horror film with tension, atmosphere, and an earnest little heart,” said Bodell.
Also on Blue Finch’s slate is another Fantasia-bound title, comedy-horror Hold The Fort.
