Get your webslingers ready, Spider-Man fans – today is a brand novel day. Or, more accurately, a brand novel suit day, since this is the day (brand novel as it is) in which we finally get a first look at Tom Holland’s brand novel Spider-Man suit from the brand novel Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Phew! What a day! The fourth MCU Spidey has started rolling cameras, marking the return of Holland after a brief hiatus following 2021’s No Way Home. His Peter Parker returns in a novel adventure directed by Shang-Chi’s Destin Daniel Cretton, and he’ll have a novel look this time around. Check the teaser.
Okay, so that is very brief. But it’s a tantalising first glimpse, and it’s thrilling that we’ll see Holland’s Spidey back on our screens next summer for the first time in five years. Mr. Stark, we do feel so good! And if you’re a Spidey suit aficionado, your spider-senses are likely tingling because this novel spandex get-up features raised black rubbery webbing for the first time since the Andrew Garfield (Peter 3) era. Raised webbing also featured on Tobey Maguire’s (Peter 2) suits. By contrast, this Peter (Peter 1) has largely had swanky, hi-tech suits over the years, since they came courtesy of Tony Stark. Even his non-nano, non-Iron Spider suits were sleek and gadget-filled. But since Brand New Day will pick up in a world where everyone has forgotten Spider-Man’s identity (his best friends included) and Tony Stark is dead (sob), expect a different vibe going forward.
Details on Brand New Day are still rare, but Cretton is directing from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon returning alongside Holland, and Sadie Sink joining the cast too. Plus, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher is confirmed to be in the mix as well. Stay tuned for more updates now production has begun, and we’ll see the film in almost exactly a year’s time, on 31 July 2026. Thwip!
