If you saw Talk To Me – especially on the substantial screen – chances are it absolutely pinned you to your seat. Or, smashed your head repeatedly into a table. It was an astonishing horror debut from Danny and Michael Philippou, the YouTube duo known as ‘RackaRacka’, who brought style, energy, wit, and outright terror to their possession movie. Now they’re back – and before they get stuck into the previously-announced Talk 2 Me, they have something different up their sleeves. Get ready for Bring Her Back, a mysterious second feature starring Sally Hawkins. The mysterious first teaser has dropped, and you can watch it here:
Deep breaths, everyone. For a one-minute teaser that gives next-to-nothing away, that’s an enticing first look at the brothers’ next outing – one that seems to keep them in firmly pant-wetting territory. There’s not much to go on here, but it seems to perhaps be a film about resurrection, which would certainly chime with that title. And the trailer has plenty of grief and death and blood and disturbing imagery – not least that eerie overhead circle shot at the end. All we know for sure is that Hawkins stars alongside Billy Barrat, Sora Wong, Jonah Wren Phillips, Sally-Anne Upton, and Stephen Phillips.
Bring Her Back is coming to cinemas this summer from A24 – here’s hoping UK audiences won’t have to wait any longer than US or Australian audiences to see what unholy terrors the Philippous have conjured this time.
