Mubi has acquired Mascha Schilinski’s Cannes Competition title Sound Of Falling for US and UK-Ireland distribution from mk2 Films.

The distributor has also bought the film for Turkey and India.

It is the latest deal between the two companies this week, after Mubi bought The Secret Agent for UK-Ireland, Brazil ex-Latin America and India. It also picked up another Competition entry from mk2, Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value, for UK-Ireland, Latin America, Turkey and India prior to the festival.

Sound Of Falling had its world premiere on Wednesday, May 14 as the first Competition title to play in Cannes this year.

Set across the course of a century on a remote German farm, the film depicts four women, separated by time, united by trauma.

Producers on Sound Of Falling are Lucas Schmidt, Lasse Scharpen and Maren Schmitt. It is German director Schilinski’s second feature after 2017’s Dark Blue Girl.

Mubi has been on a buying spree in addition to its mk2 deals, taking US and UK-Ireland rights among others to Lynne Ramsay’s Die, My Love, and buying Julia Ducournau’s Alpha for Latin America and India.
