Finland-UK based film investment fund IPR.VC, which has slate deals with international companies including A24, XYC Films and mk2 Films, has appointed Logical Pictures exec Celine Dornier to the newly created role of content executive.
Based in Paris, Dornier will aid spearhead the expansion of the company’s role on projects, liaising with producers, financiers and distributors.
Dornier has been vp financing and acquisitions at France’s Logical Pictures group since 2016.
IPR.VC has also appointed Joonas Pönniö as the company’s first group CFO.
The company said both production and investor-geared positions were created to support “further growth” by strengthening its film and series production slate and reinforcing its core investment activity.
Recent investments through its slate financing deals include A24’s summer box- office hit Materialists, Cannes competition title Eddington, and upcoming comedy drama Marty Supreme starring Timothée Chalamet and Gwyneth Paltros, XYZ’s serial killer thriller Edge Of Normal and romantic comedy Mile End Kicks that will premiere at Toronto International Film festival, and mk2 Films’ Gentle Monster, Marie Kreutzer’s follow-up to Corsage that kicks off production this month after winning the Investors’ Circle Prize at Cannes’ Marche du Film in May.
On the series side, IPR.VC is backing six-part crime drama Hildur, distributed by Cineflix Rights and co-produced by Take Two Studios for Nelonen Media’s streamer Ruutu and Sagafilm for Simmin.
IPR.VC managing partner and co-founder Timo Argillander said in a statement the arrival of the hires comes at what he calls “a pivotal time for IPR.VC, underscoring our growth ambitions and supporting our continuing strategy of maximising returns for investors whilst offering them an opportunity to genuinely shape culture through globally relevant stories across film, television and the rapidly evolving new content economy”.
Dornier cited IPR.VC’s “dynamic and international team” who “have built deep and successful relationships across the production sector, enabling the realising of many creative projects.”
She added: “I’m eager to support existing partners, spark new opportunities and to be part of IPR.VC’s continued growth and success as a leading force in the global content industry.”
Headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, with an office in London, IPR.VC has financed more than 60 productions and raised over $200 million to date. Earlier this year, the European Investment Fund committed €25 million ($29m) to the company’s latest alternative investment fund. Recent moves include a multi-year agreement with Red Bull Studios focused on premium sports and sports-adjacent documentary projects, and the establishing of a research and development arm, the IPR LAB.
