“Life will knock us down, but we can choose to get back up.” Yep. Sony Pictures has unveiled a novel “Lasting Legacy” featurette for Karate Kid: Legends, arriving in theaters in one week. This is another epic Karate Kid sequel continuing not only the other movies but also the “Cobra Kai” series. After a family tragedy, kung fu prodigy Li Fong is uprooted from his home in Beijing and forced to move to New York City. Li struggles to let go of his past as he tries to fit in with his classmates, and although he doesn’t want to fight, trouble seems to find him everywhere. When a novel friend needs his lend a hand, Li enters a karate competition – but his skills alone aren’t enough. Li learns a novel way to fight from Sensei LaRusso, merging their two styles into one for the ultimate martial arts showdown. Kick his ass, Li! Starring Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio returning from the other movies, introducing Ben Wang as Li Fong, also starring Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, and Ming-Na Wen. This behind-the-scenes video focuses on this novel movie’s connection with the original 1984 Karate Kid, starring Pat Morita (RIP) as the original sensei Mr. Miyagi. It’s a nice reminder of how meaningful and spiritual this entire series is. And how we must employ fighting for good, not to beat people up.

After a family tragedy, kung fu prodigy Li Fong (Ben Wang) is uprooted from his home in Beijing and forced to move to New York City with his mother. Li struggles to let go of his past as he tries to fit in with his novel classmates, and although he doesn’t want to fight, trouble seems to find him everywhere. When a novel friend needs his lend a hand, Li enters a karate competition – but his skills alone aren’t enough. Li’s kung fu teacher Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) enlists original Karate Kid Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) for lend a hand, and Li learns a novel way to fight, merging their two styles into one for the ultimate martial arts showdown. Karate Kid: Legends is directed by English filmmaker Jonathan Entwistle, making his first feature film after lots of TV work including creating “The End of the F***ing World” series + eps of “I Am Not Okay with This” and “Hello Tomorrow” previously. The screenplay is by Rob Lieber. It’s produced by Karen Rosenfelt & James Lassiter. Executive produced by Jenny Hinkey and Ralph Macchio. Sony will release Karate Kid: Legends in theaters nationwide starting on May 30th, 2025 this summer movie season. Still looks good?
