Colleen Hoover’s latest adaptation found tremendous success at the box office after grossing over $350 million globally, but that doesn’t mean she’s slowing down anytime soon. The next adaptation of Hoover’s novel comes in the form of Regretting You, which is due in theaters everywhere on October 24 later this year. Paramount Pictures has officially released the first trailer for Regretting You, which stars Dave Franco (Neighbors), Mason Thames (How to Train Your Dragon), Mckenna Grace (The Handmaid’s Tale), Allison Williams (Get Out), Scott Eastwood (The Fate of the Furious), and Willa Fitzgerald (The Fall of the House of Usher). Susan McMartin, who recently wrote and created the Netflix series Leanne, is adapting Hoover’s novel with Josh Boone directing. Boone’s last directorial outing was The New Mutants.
Regretting You director Josh Boone is also known for his work on The Fault in Our Stars, the coming-of-age drama starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elggort that’s currently streaming on Disney+. He made his directorial debut a few years later on Stuck in Love, the romantic comedy starring Jennifer Connelly. Regretting You centers around the strained relationship between a newborn mother (Allison Williams) and her teenage daughter, Clara (Mckenna Grace). The death of her husband, Chris (Scott Eastwood), forces both of them to face challenges they never even imagined. Regretting You star Dave Franco is fresh off earning an Emmy nomination for his work as a Guest Actor on The Studio, and Mason Thames is enjoying the colossal box office success of the live-action How to Train Your Dragon movie. He’s also due to reprise his role as Hiccup in a live-action sequel.
