“She was fearless.” “She was a boundary pusher.” Meet Bunny Yeager. 👙 Music Box Films has debuted the official trailer for Naked Ambition, a fascinating documentary film about a photographer from the 20th century. The film is finally opening to watch in art house theaters in September this year. The initial festival intro for this doc: “Bunny Yeager was a trailblazing model, designer, and photographer who popularized the bikini, invented the selfie, discovered Bettie Page, and introduced feminist agency in sexy pictures in the ’50s. With the testimonies of cultural icons that include photographer Bruce Weber, plus Dita Von Teese, and Larry King, the film reinstates Bunny as an iconic artist as well as portraying the evolution of women’s autonomy in postwar America through the use of her extraordinary archive.” The novel film features Dita Von Teese, Bruce Weber, Larry King, Guinevere Turner, Hugh Hefner, Bettie Page, and plenty of others. Naked Ambition is a “rediscovery of a brilliant yet overlooked artist.” Reviews add that the film, “sheds light on a woman who deserved the spotlight then & now.” Seems like an entertaining look back at pop culture history.

Bunny Yeager, once heralded as the world’s prettiest photographer, had a huge influence on 20th-century pop culture, though few people still know her name. Whether by popularizing the bikini, helping discover Bettie Page, shaping the image of Playboy, or inventing the selfie, Bunny was a trailblazer whose work bucked against conservative 1950s America and helped pave the way for the feminist movement and the sexual revolution. Yet the very changes she helped usher in would soon render her a forgotten relic… until now. Naked Ambition is co-directed by filmmakers Dennis Scholl (director of the docs Symphony in D, The Last Resort, Lifeline/Clyfford Still) & Kareem Tabsch (director of the docs The Last Resort & Mucho Mucho Amor: The Legend of Walter Mercado). Produced by Konstantia Kontaxis, Dennis Scholl & Kareem Tabsch. This initially premiered at the 2023 DOC NYC Film Festival a few years ago. Music Box Films will debut the Naked Ambition doc in select US theaters starting September 12th, 2025 coming soon this fall.
