The kids are alright. Well. Kind of. Today at the CCXP Mexico celebrations, Prime Video dropped the debut trailer for the second season of Gen V — a moment that fans have been waiting for since the first season came to an end back in 2023. Even better than that, though, is the announcement that Season 2 will finally arrive on Wednesday, September 17, which certainly stays on par with the school’s in-session theme of the show.

In the quick glimpse that we see, Eric Kripke and his team have already upped the ante, and are going for more blood, guts, and drama than before. With the universe’s flagship series, The Boys, officially coming to an end following its upcoming fifth season, all eyes are on Gen V to serve as the future of the franchise. And, if today’s teaser is any clue, it certainly won’t disappoint. Many returning faces are making their way back to the gore-filled world for the next set of episodes, as audiences can expect to see the likes of Jaz Sinclair (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), London Thor (Lady Bird), Asa Germann (Scream 7), Lizze Broadway (Ghosted), Maddie Phillips (Undercover Cheerleader) and Derek Luh (Shining Vale).

When we last left off with the gang at the center of Gen V, Marie (Sinclair), Andre (Chance Perdomo), Emma (Broadway), and Jordan (Thor, Luh) had been taken into custody by Vought, after Cate (Phillips) and Sam (Germann) went on a blood-soaked killing spree across the campus of Godolkin University. Although viewers spotted Cate and Sam in Season 4 of The Boys, the rest of the teens were nowhere to be found, with the second season holding the secrets about their whereabouts. Both are featured in the trailer, as it appears they now have a one-up over Marie, Emma, and Jordan, who have returned to Godolkin University, and its novel terrifying Dean, Hamish Linklater’s Cipher. The university has changed in a ton of ways, now looking more like a prison than anything and beginning to crack down on how they treat regular humans (spoiler, it’s not well!) But, the trio are bent on revenge following whatever happened to them behind closed doors at Vought, and it looks like they’re willing to risk anything to get it. There are also a few cameos from The Boys favorites, like Chace Crawford‘s The Deep and Valorie Curry‘s Firecracker.

A Bittersweet Arrival

Are we excited to sink our teeth into the follow-up season of Gen V? You better believe it! After two years of waiting, we’re pumped to see how the story continues and how it might set things up for Season 3 — especially considering the Supe-sized hole in our hearts after The Boys comes to an end. Still, the arrival of Gen V will mark an extremely melancholy occasion with the reminder that one of its original stars, Perdomo, is no longer with us. The actor, who also made a name for himself in Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, tragically passed away last year in a motorcycle accident.

The innovative team made the respectful and wise decision not to recast Perdomo’s character, with Kripke previously revealing how they would pay respect to the teenage actor’s memory on the show.

“First, it’s just so unbelievably tragic, and my heart goes out to his family. We’re not trying to replace him because we can’t. We’re playing the character’s death on the show. So it’s very heavy and it’s really emotionally difficult for the cast. And we’re just trying to honor Chance as best we can.”

The trailer gives us a tease of how they’ll handle Perdomo’s absence with a close-up of his character’s father, Sean Patrick Thomas‘ Polarity, who’s ready to “burn the school down to the motherf****** studs.”
