Ewan McGregor’s follow-up to the Emmy-nominated Long Way Up has finally landed a premiere date on Apple TV+, half a decade after fans last saw McGregor and longtime buddy Charley Boorman embark on an epic roadventure using motorcycles. Titled Long Way Home, the sequel has also gotten an official trailer from the streamer, set for next month and which will see the duo journey close to home, from Scotland to England, via Scandinavia, the Arctic Circle and continental Europe.

Long Way Home premieres on Friday, May 9, on Apple TV+ and will feature ten electrifying episodes starring and executive produced by McGregor and Boorman. As described by the streamer, the highly anticipated installment follows the adventurous twosome as they ride refurbished vintage motorbikes from McGregor’s home in Scotland to Boorman’s in England “but rather than take the shortest route, they go the long way,” heading across the North Sea to Scandinavia, all the way up to the Arctic Circle and then down to the Baltics and through continental Europe, before eventually hopping back over the English Channel two months later.

Of course, taking the longer route on this journey provides all the adventure McGregor and Boorman need and even more! Long Way Home will take them to more than fifteen countries, boasting striking scenery and along some of the greatest driving roads in the world. During the trip, they will get to explore each country’s culture, meet the locals, and try their hand at unique and eclectic activities. Other executive producers attached to the season are longtime collaborators David Alexanian and Russ Malkin, who also direct.

There Were Even More Epic Adventures Before ‘Long Way Home’

Before Long Way Home, Ewan and Charley’s previous adventures were documented in Long Way Round, Long Way Down and Long Way Up, all of which are currently streaming on Apple TV+. The first in the series, Long Way Round, aired on Sky One from October 18, 2004, to February 1, 2005, and was added to Apple TV+ on September 18, 2020, alongside the two other sequels. It chronicles the friends’ journey from London to New York City on motorcycles, traveling eastwards through Europe and Asia, which is quite different from their 2007 trip in Long Way Down.

In Long Way Down, McGregor and Boorman journeyed from Scotland through eighteen countries in Europe and Africa to Cape Town in South Africa. This was followed by 2020’s Long Way Up, which debuted on September 18 and followed the pair from Ushuaia in Argentina through South and Central America to Los Angeles. The trip ended on November 13, 2020, at the Bike Shed Moto Co. in the L.A. Arts District.

The next chapter in the adventurous series will debut on Apple TV+ in May. Check out the thrilling trailer below, and stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
