The Egyptian Opera House, headed by Dr. Lamia Zayed, President of the 32nd Arab Music Festival and Conference, announced the opening of registration for those wishing to participate in the competition accompanying the festival’s activities.

About the Competition

Dr. Khaled Dagher, Director of the Festival and Conference, stated that this year’s competition includes four sections and its competitions are held using new mechanisms that aim to facilitate participation for those wishing to participate from Egypt and various countries and to ensure equal opportunities for all, while providing an opportunity for those wishing to participate from people with disabilities.

Competition Sections

Ratiba El-Hefny Competition in Arabic Singing for Youth

This competition is for contestants between the ages of 17 to 40 years. The contestant in the first stage performs one of Sayed Darwish’s songs and a song of his choice, and at the end of the competition, the first place winner receives a prize of 50 thousand pounds, the second place 45 thousand pounds, and the third place 40 thousand pounds.

Ratiba El-Hefny Competition in Arabic Singing for Children

This competition is allocated to children from 6 to 16 years old. The contestant in the first stage is asked to perform one of Sayed Darwish’s songs in addition to a song of his choice, and at the end of the competition, the first place winner receives 35 thousand pounds, the second place winner receives 30 thousand pounds, and the third place winner receives 25 thousand pounds.

Abdo Dagher Competition for Improvisation in Playing the Arab Takht Instruments

This competition targets players of the Arab Takht Instruments (Qanun, Oud, Violin, Nay, Cello) between the ages of 18 and 45. The contestant is asked in the preliminary elimination to present a free and improvised performance of the participating instrument. At the end of the competition, the first place winner will receive 50 thousand pounds, the second place winner 45 thousand pounds, and the third place winner 40 thousand pounds.

Orchestral Music Distribution Competition

This competition is available to all ages, where the contestant presents an orchestral distribution of one of Sayed Darwish’s works, and the winner of this competition receives 100 thousand pounds.
