As the elderly adage goes, there are three certainties in life: death, taxes, and horror movie sequels. And following the critical and commercial success of Final Destination: Bloodlines earlier this year, the first film in the iconic horror franchise since 2011’s Final Destination 5, producers New Line are certainly looking to do their bit to keep the death and sequels coming at least. Per THR‘s reporting, a seventh Final Destination movie is officially in the works at Warner Bros. as the studio looks to keep the cogs turning on cinema’s ultimate Rube Goldberg machine of death.

As THR detail, the recent — and as-yet-untitled — sequel is set to be written by Lori Evans Taylor, who co-wrote the $286 million grossing Bloodlines with Ready Or Not alum Guy Busick. Whether Busick will be back in any capacity remains to be seen at this stage, as does whether directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein will be back at the helm after having delivered a reboot-cum-sequel that’s gone gangbusters with diehard fans and newcomers alike. One thing we do know however is that none of the principal cast from Bloodlines will be returning as — *SPOILER ALERT* — Death did indeed come for everyone in the end, even despite Stefani (Kaitlyn Santa Juana) and her kid brother Charlie’s (Teo Briones) best efforts to beat the reaper at its own game. Not even the slow, great Tony Todd proved impervious, as we finally learned the truth about his franchise mainstay William Bludworth’s connection to Death before bidding an emotional farewell — both to the character and the actor who so indelibly played him.

With Bloodlines having seemingly seen Death balance its books with the survivors of the Sky Tower at long last, all bets are off as to what Final Destination 7 may have in store. Could we get a period-set prequel? Might Taylor return to those early 2020s whispers of an FD movie centred around first responders? Or may we even find out Stephanie and Charlie’s grizzly end was actually just another premonition, kickstarting a whole recent bloodline for ol’ Death to start scything through? Only time will tell. Now, if you don’t mind, there’s a charging cable surreptitiously tangled around the foot of this office chair, which we’re sure won’t do us any harm… probably… right? Ri—
