We’re just less than a month out from meeting Marvel’s first family in Fantastic Four: First Steps. The newest Marvel Cinematic Universe movie just got yet another trailer. The film, led by Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby, will follow Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and the Thing as they face their biggest threats yet. Fantastic Four: First Steps arrives in theaters July 25. The up-to-date trailer begins with a focus on each of the members of Marvel’s First Family, including a running bit throughout the trailer to get Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) to say the renowned “It’s Clobbering Time” line.
Eventually, even Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn) tries to get the line out of him (while he’s, somehow, made of rock sporting a beard?) Soon enough, the First Family is called out to face the incoming threat: Galactus. Heralded by Julia Garner‘s Silver Surfer, the first family must figure out how to not just save the world they love, but also the people they love. “Family is about connecting to something bigger than yourself,” Sue says in the trailer. The trailer gave more than a few glimpses of Reed Richards’ (Pascal) and Sue Storm’s (Kirby) baby son, Franklin.
One ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Cast Member “Out-Nerded” The Rest
Vanessa Kirby plays Sue Storm a.k.a. The Invisible Woman and when Kirby took on the role, she didn’t take it lightly. In an interview with Empire Magazine, Kirby explained: “I’m such a Sue nerd.” She said early on in meetings with Marvel, “I think I out-nerded everyone in that room.” In addition to learning more about her character: a wife to Pedro Pascal’s Reid Richards, a.k.a. Mister Fantastic, and sister to Joseph Quinn’s Johnny Storm a.k.a. The Human Torch, Kirby said she “got so into quantum physics.” While the movie is set in the 1960s, it looks to be taking a retro-futuristic approach with flying cars (as seen in the trailer) and other more advanced technology.
Kirby shared that she was looking at the ins and outs of Sue’s superpowers too. “It’s sad how much I got into it. I could waffle on about cellular vibration frequency.” It’s not just Sue’s superpowers that Kirby teased when speaking with Empire, Sue is pregnant with who will eventually be Franklin Richards and Kirby revealed, “It’s not just adults that have superpowers.”
The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters July 27. Check out the up-to-date trailer above and stay with Collider for the latest updates.
