Concert Alert: Tabla El Set Brings Egyptian Folklore to the Stage
About the Band
The Set Tabla Band is one of the Egyptian traditional songs and folklore groups, which has participated in many local and international festivals. It consists of 12 women who play and sing with music inspired by old songs in the countryside and Upper Egypt. Its goal is to revive folklore songs again, and it uses more than one instrument, but they are instruments. Rhythmic, including the drum, dhola, tambourine, and sajjat.
There have been many developments in the band during the last period, as the number of the band reached 12 singers, and as for the “Sitting Tabla” workshop, the number reached 40 women participating in it to learn rhythm. We traveled to a number of governorates to celebrate many women’s festivals, and they participated in the drumming, sakia, and opera festival.
