The talents of George Clooney and Adam Sandler are on full display today in the debut teaser for the pair’s upcoming Netflix film, Jay Kelly. The latest project to come from Academy Award-nominated director Noah Baumbach is slated for a release on the streamer on December 5, with today’s first look teasing the heartfelt story to come. Featuring a supporting ensemble that includes the likes of Laura Dern (Jurassic Park) and Billy Crudup (The Morning Show), Baumbach’s latest star-packed feature promises to pull on heartstrings all while keeping audiences laughing until the credits roll.
In the film, Clooney plays Jay Kelly, an incredibly famed actor who is on a European adventure alongside his longtime friend and manager, Ron (Sandler). Not only is their journey filled with the normal experiences that one would expect a movie star and his manager to face on the day-to-day, but the pair also spend the days opening up to one another about their life choices, relationships with loved ones, and the mark that they plan to leave on the world once their time is up.
In addition to directing Jay Kelly, Baumbach additionally co-penned the script alongside Emily Mortimer, who also holds a role in front of the camera. As one could expect, Baumbach has once again compiled a call sheet overflowing with familiar faces for his latest foray into feature-film making, with his constant collaborator and spouse, Greta Gerwig, also playing a role in the film alongside Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring franchise), Riley Keough (Daisy Jones & The Six), Grace Edwards (Asteroid City), Stacy Keach (The Bourne Legacy), Eve Hewson (Bridge of Spies), Isla Fisher (Back to the Outback), Louis Partridge (Enola Holmes), Jamie Demetriou (Fleabag), and more.
What Else Does Netflix Have on Its Slate?
Just like every year, the incredibly successful streamer has plenty for subscribers to look forward to, with titles featuring some of the biggest names of the day coming out weekly. Jay Kelly is just the latest collaboration between Sandler and the platform, as the studio and actor recently released the long-awaited Happy Gilmore 2. Additionally, Netflix has loads of other feature-length productions on the way, including Chris Columbus’ The Thursday Murder Club, Simon Stone’s Keira Knightley-led thriller, The Woman in Cabin 10, and the latest installment in Rian Johnson’s beloved comedy mystery franchise, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.
