No, your eyes don’t deceive you. There’s a brand-new trailer for the highly-anticipated Now You See Me: Now You Don’t that has just dropped today, giving audiences a better idea of what to expect when the third movie in the growing franchise conjures its way onto screens later this fall. For the most part, all of your favorites are back, with a familiar lineup that includes Isla Fisher (Wedding Crashers), Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network), Dave Franco (Love Lies Bleeding), Woody Harrelson (True Detective) and Morgan Freeman (The Shawshank Redemption), with a handful of modern actors set to pick up the torch and step forward helping to carry on The Four Horseman’s legacy.
Two generations are clashing in the latest trailer for Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, as the modern school collides with the ancient school. Still reeling from their spotlight fading, The Four Horsemen aren’t exactly excited to join forces with an up-and-coming group of illusionists, but because Danny (Eisenberg) sees them as the missing piece to their latest heist, both sides try to get along. With one shot to get the trick right and bring down the Vanderberg crime family, the quickly growing crew will need to put their differences aside and work towards the common good.
While we’re excited to reconnect with the characters who started the beloved magic-centered film trilogy, we’re also stoked to get to know a handful of modern characters played by some of the biggest stars on the rise. The modern crew will feature the talents of Justice Smith (I Saw the TV Glow), Dominic Sessa (The Holdovers) and Ariana Greenblatt (Fear Street: Prom Queen), while Rosamund Pike (The Wheel of Time) returns to her villain era for her role as Veronika Vanderberg — the leader of the Vanderberg crime organization. After Louis Leterrier and Jon M. Chu had their time behind the camera as the helmers of the first two films, the time has come for Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Uncharted) to step up to the plate and deliver an action- and magic-packed heist flick.
What Has Made the ‘Now You See Me’ Franchise Such a Hit?
There’s nothing more mystifying than magic tricks, but mix those with a powerful script, a heist plotline, and a lineup of some of the industry’s most talented performers, and you have the recipe for a hit. Recently speaking with Collider, Eisenberg weighed in on what drew him to the movie in the first place, revealing,
“With the first two movies, when I first read the script, I was kind of just taken aback by the imagination behind it. It has action movie elements, but all of the action is this really brilliant, clever, kind of trickery. It’s just the kind of stuff that I love. It’s these kind of clever, really imaginative, ideas of kind of how to outsmart whoever they’re trying to outsmart. The movie pulls the rug out from under you as an audience, but not in a way that is confusing, but in a way that brings you along for the ride of its own cleverness.”
