Just when we thought it was finally unthreatening to make a sound, it looks like John Krasinski isn’t quite done with A Quiet Place yet. Having handed the reins of his sci-fi horror franchise over to Pig director Michael Sarnoski for last year’s critically and commercially lauded prequel A Quiet Place: Day One, Krasinski took to Instagram earlier this evening to officially tease his return to the series’ helm for A Quiet Place Part III. Check out the filmmaker’s appropriately low-key stealth announcement below;
There you go: 9 July, 2027, A Quiet Place Part III. ‘Nuff said. Well, pretty much. Per Deadline‘s additional coverage of the announcement that man’s battle with a brutal horde of phonophobic extraterrestrials isn’t over just yet, we do also know that Krasinski — despite having transitioned to a firmly off-screen role in the AQPCU at the end of the franchise’s first movie — is set to write, direct, and produce the third mainline instalment in Paramount’s hit genre series. Now, in all fairness we have known that former The Office US star-turned-Hollywood action/director man Krasinski has been toying with A Quiet Place 3 ideas since as far back as 2020, and the film was actually formally announced way back in February 2022. But, between Sarnoski’s prequel and last year’s video game A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, there has understandably been a little bit of confusion as to when/where/if any further word on AQP3 (as nobody is calling it) would come our way — so it’s nice to have a little clarity.
As fans will no doubt recall, A Quiet Place: Day One ended with Joseph Quinn’s Eric setting sail for the island from A Quiet Place Part II on a ferry — a ferry, notably, also carrying Djimon Hounsou’s Henri from the second film. Whether that may open the door for Eric’s reappearance in some capacity in Part III remains unknown, as does whether the likes of Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe, and Millicent Simmonds will be back, too. All bets are also off regarding where exactly Krasinski’s threequel will take the story next (the demogorgon-like Death Angels did seem to have been finally been dealt with once and for all at the end of AQP Part II, after all.) But one thing’s for sure: whatever Krasinski is cooking, we’ll be seated, ready, and waiting to dig in when A Quiet Place Part III hits cinemas on 9 July, 2027. Quietly, of course.
